It was a miraculous moment, as if God himself had stepped in to rescue me from making the biggest mistake of my life. I just burst out crying uncontrollably. My grandmother was there at the time and she asked me what was the matter, but it took me several minutes before I was able to get beyond the tears and talk. She then told my mom and she told the other family members. They all called and consoled me and re-assured me of their love for me.

I appreciated all the affection that came my way and soon I was able to put my weight-induced sadness behind me. There are two sayings I came across which I truly believed and held on to. One goes thus, “Happiness isn’t a destination; it’s a journey.” The other goes, “If you keep looking on the outside for happiness, you might never find it, for the source of happiness is inside you.”
