BOOK SIGNING OF THE IMAGINATIVE JOE DREAMER

Book Signing

A Book Signing is a great way for authors to connect with readers and vice versa.

I enjoyed the privilege I had over the past two weeks to host my Book Signing of Meet the Imaginative Joe Dreamer, at the Book Nook bookstore.

Connecting with People

Although part of the aim of a Book Signing is to make sales, I find that I also enjoyed meeting people. I am happy to have made extra sales for sure, but whether I am in the bookstore or not, my books still sell. So, the bonus benefit was meeting some of the book buyers and speaking with them. That left an even more lasting impression. I even remember a few of the names of people I signed the books for and I remember the conversations. I was very touched and impressed by two young girls who are budding authors themselves. One of them, at only nine years old, is halfway through writing her children’s story book and has a schoolmate doing the drawings for her. I think that’s wonderful. I marveled as her aunt said to her “one day this could be you, sitting here, signing your books too.” I will cherish those moments.

There were some awkward moments too, of course, as some people walked in and smiled at me and we briefly asked each other how are you? But that was it. I enjoyed their smiles and interaction nonetheless. It’s good that people can be polite even if they aren’t planning on engaging with you about your book.

Pre Book Signing

I also enjoyed all the pre book signing efforts, such my radio/tv interview on Cayman CrossTalk on May 30 and my promotional efforts with the book trailer.

Great growth experience

Overall, it has been a great growth experience for me. I have had to come out of my shell so to speak. In my full time job I am sitting at a desk almost all day long, connecting with the computer screen, so going out and connecting live with real people and expressing more of myself to others was truly an in-depth experience that forced me to grow more as an author. Moreover, this is only the beginning of this journey for me, as Meet the Imaginative Joe Dreamer is the first in this book series. Later in the year I will most likely do another book signing to feature the complete book series, showcasing all three books. Until then, stay tuned to this website and follow on Facebook at Imaginative Joe Dreamer.

Best Regards

Karlene
