Cheers to a Better Year in 2017
The 2016 Leap Year
It makes sense that 2016 was a leap year, given some of the superstitions that surround a leap year. Some people claim that leap years have more deaths, divorces, and more babies being born. Well, I can’t say I necessary believe in the leap year superstitions, unless it’s true that leap years can be lucky for some people. I’d say Usain Bolt had a good year, judging from the Olympics and beyond. I’d say Donald Trump had a good year too; he ran for president and won . For many of us though, 2016 was a year of turmoil, and we do hope for a better year in 2017.
Highs and Lows
It was a year of mixed emotions for me. Frustrating was a key word many times throughout the year, but I am thankful that every day wasn’t always so. There were a lot of good moments and a lot of good days. There were little stresses, but there were also big disappointments. There were deaths, among friends and family. There were also quite a few news of colleagues and family members being diagnosed with cancer. Some are still with us, some have past, some still continue to fight the good fight and carry on. Some year it has been.
Compared to the last year and a half, I would also say that this year has taken me in a direction that is more in keeping with my aspirations. I have experienced much positive growth in 2016 and look towards shaping more in 2017.
What 2017 Means For Me
In 2017 I will continue to use the wisdom God has graced me with, to set clear, focused goals, and to pursue them with vigor and passion. I will continue to work on me. I am not perfect, as no one is, so wherever I have weaknesses, or where I fall short, I intend to keep seeking and relying on God’s guidance to mold me.
I am hoping to have better relationships with family, friends, coworkers, and people in general. A new year is a new opportunity to do better and be better, but whilst maintaining the values that I hold dear and setting my standards high.
Happy New Year
As I wish for myself and my family a better, healthier and prosperous 2017, I wish the same for others as well. Happy New Years to you all, and cheers to a better year in 2017.
