There’s a Plugin For That…
This morning I got a WordPress tutorial update email that spoke about a plugin that you can use to create “job boards” in WordPress, and they used the expression “there’s a plugin for that.” Funny enough, that’s exactly what I was thinking as well. I’m surprised at all the plugins that you can install for free once you are using WordPress.org.
When I first started off getting very serious about blogging (and when I say serious I mean adding content on a consistent basis), I was so concerned about what is the right “theme” that will allow me to get my site to have a particular look. So I would spend loads of time just trying to get a theme that had all or most of the features I needed to see on my blog. But then, even after finding the “perfect” theme I still wanted additional features, but didn’t necessarily want to move to a different theme all over again. Then I discovered “plugins” 🙂
Upon first discovering plugins I still never anticipated that there would be plugins for just about everything, but I’m now starting to feel like maybe there is. Like for example, look at that update I got just this morning about a plugin that allows you to create job boards in WordPress.
I think it’s probably worth the time one of these days to brainstorm all the different features I want, make an excel list and then see if there are in fact plugins within WordPress for all those. I think the alternative when that is not done, is that you end up risking making purchases from software developers who want to sell you their software that can give you the various features. But why would I want to pay for anything, when there’s a plugin for that?
In case you’re curious, some of the plugins I have discovered so far in WordPress are for anti-spamming, displaying ads, showing related articles, creating widgets, SEO, and of course the latest is the job board.
The sky really is the limit, especially with today’s technology. I am learning so much and I enjoy sharing all this new knowledge with my blog followers. I’ll keep you posted on what I may end up finding out next. Stay tuned 🙂
